Frugal Living Goals

We need to establish some frugal living goals after we have identified our Values, or determined what is important to us. This helps us to begin constructing a road map that will assist us in moving forward in our lives.

When do we ususally find ourselves in financial trouble or not quite staying on our budget? If we will stop and take a hard look at our spending patterns we will find that we get there by spending money not in alignment with our stated Values. The primary reason for this is that we don't sit down and define our goals and how they relate to our values.

Most of us, if not all of us, have central values wthout any specific related goals and goals without a related central value. We may also have ambiguous matchings of goals and values. In order to be successful we need to minimize all of these. We need clearly defined goals associated with clearly defined core values. Especially as they relate to our financial well being. If we filter our financial spending against the financial goals associated with our core values we will always be moving ahead towards financial success.

How do we get to this point? If we haven't already done so, we need to define our core values.

Once we have determined our core values we need to proceed as follows:

  • Be sure to have your list of core values.
  • For each value ask youself where you want to be in terms of that value in 5, 10, or 25 years.
  • Now turn those dreams into goals.
